We are located in the city of Guelph (pronounced Gwelf) in South Central Ontario, approximately 1 hour West of Toronto.

Thank you for your interest in our Birmans! Please help us get to know you by completing our

 Gryphonwood Birman Adoption Questionnaire

We receive many inquiries and this questionnaire helps us stay organised.  Your information will be retained for 24 months and we will contact you to arrange a visit when your dream Birman becomes available. Gryphonwood is a very small hobby cattery and we appreciate your patience - we promise it will be worth it!

We thank everyone who contacts us for their interest in our kittens and adult retiring cats.  Please introduce yourself and tell us all about yourself, your present and past pets and your home and lifestyle - it helps us ensure that we place just the right kitty purrsonality with you!

A big, goofy, socially dependant kitten might not do as well in a quiet apartment home where the single owner is away at work 8 hours a day and expects to sleep without the kitty on top of them at night. The gentle, independent little kitten that is confident on her own and happily plays with her toys and naps until her owner returns would be a much better fit.  The first kitten might be much better in an active home with children to play with him, where as the quiet kitten might be overwhelmed with that level of activity.

We also always reserve the right to place our kittens with folks who demonstrate that they will love and care for them as we would.

Our kittens are not sold over the internet and we will not ship them.  Our Gryphonwood families, are folks who take the time to plan and research how their future family member has been raised and who are willing to take the time and make the effort to visit us to see the caring, clean environment the cats are being raised in.  We rarely chose to send a cat or kitten home with someone during their first visit.  When we do, it is usually someone who we have gotten to know quite well before they visited. When we think we have a kitten that suits a particular home we will contact you to arrange a first visit.

We do not take deposits prior to both the adoptive pet parents and us agreeing that a kitten is a great fit for a particular home. Sometimes this takes time and given that we have only a few litters a year please expect to wait 6 - 24 months.

We ask that you be aware and respectful of the real danger to the kittens if you visit other kittens just prior to coming to see them. Typically kittens are visited around 8-9 weeks of age after 1 set of vaccinations. While this is a start to protecting them from contagious disease, they are not fully protected until after their 3 vaccination.  We encourage you to thoroughly investigate all your options, however the other responsible, caring breeders would also appreciate if you limited your visits to one cattery/shelter/rescue a day.
